Council FAQ
Myth VS Fact
Myth VS Fact
Myth: “I don’t have enough time to get involved.”
Fact: That’s okay! Being part of the Voyager Council doesn’t require a huge time commitment. Give an hour, help with one event, support a fundraiser, join a committee, or simply attend a meeting. You choose what works for your family and schedule.
Myth: “I won’t know anyone.”
Fact: You don’t have to! The Voyager Council is about building connections, not already having them. New families, returning families, grandparents, caregivers, and community members all bring something valuable to our school community.
Myth: “If I come to a meeting, I’ll be expected to volunteer.”
Fact: Attending a meeting does not obligate you to take on a role. Come to listen, learn, share ideas, ask questions, and stay connected to what is happening within our school community. When you’re ready to serve, there will be opportunities available.
Myth: “I work during the day, so there probably isn’t much I can do.”
Fact: There are many ways to contribute outside of the school day. Some opportunities can be completed from home, in the evenings, at special events, or behind the scenes. We want involvement to be accessible to families with different schedules.
Myth: “The same people probably do everything.”
Fact: Returning volunteers provide valuable experience, but new voices and fresh ideas help our Council grow. You don’t need previous experience or a special title to contribute—just a desire to support our Voyagers.
Myth: “My small contribution won’t really make a difference.”
Fact: It absolutely adds up. One volunteer shift, one donated item, one new idea, one community connection, or one hour of your time can help create opportunities for our students, teachers, staff, athletics, fine arts, and school community.
You don’t have to do everything. Choose your way to participate—your time, your talents, your ideas, or your resources. When families work together, small contributions become a much greater impact for our students.
Come as you are. Give what you can. Be part of the journey.
